West Fargo — The City Commission agreed to award the contract for the A Street West multi-use path to Northern Improvement Company after receiving the engineering recommendation.
City Engineer Jerry Wallace reported the low, responsive bid of $509,985.30 from Northern Improvement Company, noting the bid was 24.1% below the engineer’s estimate. “The low bid was for the amount of $509,985.30,” Wallace said, and recommended concurrence with the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s recommendation to accept the bid.
Wallace told commissioners the project has been awarded $412,731.10 in grant funding from various sources; he said the remaining costs will be paid from the Capital Improvement Sales Tax Fund and that there will be no special assessments. Following a motion and second, the commission approved the contract award by voice vote.
Staff will return with contract documents and a schedule for construction and coordination with adjacent neighborhoods.
