West Fargo library board approves new satellite hours, adds Monday evenings starting Jan. 1, 2026

The City of West Fargo Public Library Board on Thursday voted to change hours at the library’s satellite location, swapping Friday hours for Mondays and adding evening service, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
The change was presented by Jenna, a library staff member who briefed the board on usage patterns since the satellite opened in March. "One of the things that we've noticed is that Fridays are our lowest usage dates for the satellite here in the library," Jenna said, and staff found that moving programming such as the Monday matinee to the satellite improved attendance and accessibility because the satellite requires no elevator access and has accessible restrooms nearby.
Jenna also said members of the public had requested evening hours in south West Fargo to accommodate people coming to City Hall for meetings. The approved schedule sets Monday hours at noon–6:30 p.m. and retains Tuesday–Thursday hours of 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Board members asked about capacity differences and safety. An attendee noted the main library meeting room capacity is about 30 people while the satellite space can accommodate well over 100, subject to fire-code limits. After questions, Unidentified Speaker 2 moved to approve the hours change; the motion was seconded and carried without recorded opposition.
The change takes effect Jan. 1, 2026. Staff said they will continue monitoring attendance and programming to assess future adjustments.
The board took the vote as part of its regular new-business agenda and did not attach additional conditions to the approval.
