Council reappoints two to Tourism Commission; mayor announces death of planning-and-zoning president

The Washington City Council approved reappointments to the Washington Tourism Commission Dec. 1, endorsing Michelle Horskamp and Rob Vosbrink Jr. to terms that expire in December 2028. The reappointments were moved and approved by voice vote.
In his mayor’s report the mayor announced the recent death of Tom Hoetmire, longtime president of the planning and zoning board. The mayor said the family requested a simple memorial at the next planning-and-zoning meeting, and the city will present a proclamation at that event. The mayor also recounted attendance at a metro mayors’ lunch and praised the council’s collegial tone.
Separately, the city administrator announced a special council meeting for Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss employee health-benefits renewal and said staff would try to provide numbers in advance of that meeting.
