Wagoner hospital reports higher patient loads, adds ENT surgeon

A representative of the Wagoner hospital told the council Dec. 1 that the facility employs just over 200 people, has about $15 million in annual payroll and is seeing rising inpatient and surgical volumes.
"We have just over 200 employees out there at the hospital, $15,000,000 a year payroll," the hospital speaker said, reporting that the hospital is completing its 18th year as an independent, non-system-affiliated public trust hospital. The presenter said surgical caseloads and inpatient revenues are increasing and that the average daily census rose from an October monthly average of 28 to 41 patients on the day he checked.
The hospital representative also said the facility recently added an ear, nose and throat surgeon, Dr. Bradley Mons, and that the hospital has entered into multiple contracts to increase volume for its mental-health unit. The presentation was provided as part of the departmental reports segment of the meeting and attendees were invited to ask questions.
Council members thanked the presenter and noted the hospital’s role as a large local employer and health-care resource. No formal action or funding decision related to the hospital report was recorded in the WPWA meeting minutes provided in the transcript.
