Facilities director reports roofing progress, plumbing project and proposed tennis-court gate

Brock Wilton, the district’s director of facilities, told the board on Oct. 13 that the roofing project is progressing and contractors expect to finish this year, weather permitting. He reported only a few minor change orders related to fireproofing and said the district likely saved about $3,400 by proceeding as scheduled.
Wilton said he has a proposal from architects to provide design services for a planned plumbing project at Washington Elementary and that several other projects are slated for work over winter break; some jobs could require an extra day or two on either end of the break to complete.
After vehicles drove onto and damaged the lawn near the tennis courts, Wilton proposed evaluating a gate for that area and said he would review whether it can fit into this year’s budget.
Board members did not take formal action on the projects at the meeting; Wilton said he will coordinate scheduling with principals and assess budget impacts before bringing purchase or contract requests forward.
