During the open forum, Heather and Brooke provided resource updates for providers and workers.
Heather called attention to a care worker tax credit announced in a provider bulletin: "There is a twelve hundred dollar tax credit and it includes care workers and long term care," she said, adding it also covers some early childhood workers. She said certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are excluded from the credit as described in the bulletin and that providers must submit a list of employees who meet the credit criteria to the Department of Revenue; the Department of Revenue may assess fines for non‑compliance. Heather cited income limits of $70,000 for single filers and $100,000 for joint filers as falling within the credit's eligibility thresholds.
Brooke announced Get Ahead Colorado will present at the January Compensation & Benefits Action Group meeting to walk attendees through tax credits and free tax filing services. She gave upcoming meeting dates: the Compensation & Benefits Action Group will meet on Friday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m., and the Direct Care Workforce Collaborative will follow a new quarterly cadence (January, April, July, October) with a kickoff collaborative on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m.
Department staff said slides, notes and links will be circulated after the meeting and that they will message providers about the care‑worker tax credit and related forms on the Department of Revenue site.
