Colonial School District outlines plan to meet federal web accessibility rules by April 2027

Mrs. Burke and district staff briefed the Colonial School District curriculum committee on Oct. 13 about adopting the Department of Justice’s 2024 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to align the district’s online tools with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The presenters described WCAG as technical standards that address captions, color contrast, text size, alt text and other features so people with disabilities can use websites and mobile apps. “The guidelines outline technical standards for public entities’ websites and mobile apps addressing key accessibility features such as audio captions, color contrast, text size, and font selection,” a presenter said during the meeting.
