The Oak Creek Common Council on Dec. 2 adopted a resolution expressing the city’s gratitude to Detective Gary P. Schneider for 19 years and five months of service with the Oak Creek Police Department.
The resolution, read into the record by the city clerk, cataloged departmental acknowledgements and awards credited to Schneider, his temporary and acting detective assignments, and his work as a task force officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It states he assisted with human-trafficking investigations and helped recover significant stolen property in major cases.
Police Chief David Stecker praised Schneider at the meeting, saying, “If you’ve ever met Gary, he is the definition of the energizer bunny. He does not stop.” Stecker noted Schneider’s passion for human-trafficking work and singled out a recent long-running case that resulted in “over 120 years in jail for the heinous acts” of the defendant.
The council moved to adopt the resolution of appreciation (Resolution 12630) and approved it by roll call. The resolution directs the city clerk to transmit a suitable copy to Schneider and to spread the resolution on the meeting minutes.
The resolution and remarks were part of the council’s regular meeting agenda; no subsequent council action on the item was required.
