County hears Phase 2 jail renovation preview as change orders shrink contingency

Officials confirmed the project is being paid from the $30 million allocation voters approved for the courthouse/jail effort. Commissioners discussed scope‑reduction options (for example, cutting demo scope) to control cost and asked staff to continue refining the alternates so the board can compare final numbers and draft a schedule for remaining work.
No final contract amendments for Phase 2 were adopted at the meeting; staff said additional documentation and a fuller cost breakdown would be provided at a later date.
