County approves broker, public hearing for 405 Neosho listing and finalizes two auction sales

Staff said the listing period was changed to six months with MLS listing enabled; publication of a notice is scheduled for Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, and a public hearing is set for Dec. 1, 2025 at 10 a.m.
The board also finalized sales from a live and online auction held earlier. A presenter told the commission that the highest verified bid for 824 North 4th Street was $80,000 and that $10,000 in earnest money is being held by Coffee County Title, with a closing no later than Dec. 2. The commission voted to authorize the chairman to sign the purchase contract and adopted Resolution No. 2025‑961 declaring the property surplus and authorizing the sale.
On a separate parcel, staff reported the highest bid for 538 North C Street in Leroy was $56,000 from Laura Burke (doing business as DLB Properties). The commission authorized the contract and adopted Resolution No. 2025‑962 approving that sale.
Staff said proceeds from surplus property sales will be credited to the county general fund after payment of title insurance and closing costs, and that the sales followed prior public notices and auction procedures referenced in Coffee County Resolution 2023‑900 and applicable Kansas law.
