Coffey County agrees $10,000 contribution to local daycare project after presentations on staffing and infant-care gaps

The presenters asked the commission to consider one-time financial support to help with retention and to preserve infant-care slots that would otherwise be financially untenable for the provider.
Commissioners discussed possible partnerships—school-district cost-share, economic-development support, and loan or bridge options for the capital component of separate early-learning building projects. After that exchange, the commission voted to contribute $10,000 from the Community Improvement Reserve Fund to support the Levo/Lehi daycare initiative; the motion was moved by Commissioner Barker and seconded and carried. Commissioners asked staff to stay involved as the project pursues additional grants and private funding.
