Coatesville Area School District board members on Nov. 25 recognized students who earned Advanced Placement distinctions from the College Board.
A district presenter explained the three College Board AP categories (AP Scholar; AP Scholar with Honor; AP Scholar with Distinction) and read the names of recognized students. The presenter said 22 current students earned recognition this year, nine attended the meeting to accept certificates, and that the district recorded 33 AP recognitions in the most recent testing cycle when including prior students.
"These students have demonstrated remarkable commitment, strong academic ability, and the perseverance required to excel in demanding courses," the presenter said, thanking teachers, families and administrators who supported the students.
Board members allowed students and families to leave after recognition to avoid listening to extended business items. No board action was required for the recognition.
The board later moved through routine business and votes on consent items and personnel matters.
