Sally Dobler, CEO of the Mayor's Fund for Las Vegas Life, presented the fund's year-end report to the City Council on Dec. 3.
Dobler said the fund set a goal of $1,003,054 for the fiscal year and recorded approximately $1,439,000 in actual revenue. She said the fund granted $903,000 back to city projects and programs and received an annual administration grant from the city of $466,000 to cover operating costs. Dobler characterized the return on investment to the city as 1.94 for every dollar provided in the administration grant.
Program highlights included after-school street hockey and mindfulness/yoga sessions (noted collaboration with youth development), a computer giveaway that distributed almost 300 devices to seniors, a $50,000 gift from Google Fiber to support workforce development, and a pilot ACT prep program funded at $100,000 that the presentation said produced an average 6-point increase on the ACT for participating students and resulted in $350,000 in state-funded scholarship qualifications for those participants.
Dobler also described a major fundraising campaign to establish the Nevada State Veterans Memorial Park (relocation and restoration of 18 bronze statues and construction of an amphitheater and gardens) with a campaign target of $8 million to $10 million; the fund named a fundraising consultant and projected an estimated completion timeline in 2026. Dobler closed by outlining fundraising strategies for 2026 and a planned brand audit in January.
