Laura Saltzman, chair of the committee, called the Chicago Transit Authority accessibility forum to order at 1:02 p.m. and opened with housekeeping instructions for remote participants.
The meeting included brief roll call and member introductions. Irma Gomez, ADA compliance manager at CTA, and Molly Poppy, chief planning and innovation officer for CTA, were present. Saltzman congratulated the group on passage of a recently passed transit bill, saying the funding will bring an additional staffer to support accessibility work and allow the committee to continue accessibility improvements at CTA.
The committee handled routine business. Members voted to admit Sarah Luna for voting purposes; the motion was seconded and the chair announced it carried. The group then approved the minutes from the July 14, 2025 meeting after a motion from Barbara Padilla and a second from Sandra Fernandez.
On scheduling, members discussed proposed 2026 meeting dates (Jan. 12, Apr. 6, Jul. 13 and Oct. 5). Several members noted April 6 fell immediately after Easter; members moved to shift the April meeting to April 13. The committee voted to adopt the revised 2026 schedule of Jan. 12, April 13, July 13 and Oct. 5.
The forum confirmed the next meeting will be Monday, Jan. 12, 2026 at 1:30 p.m., to be held in a hybrid format with an on-site quorum required for committee business. Staff noted that several members’ two‑year terms are ending and that contract/renewal details will be circulated; members were told most renewals will require in-person attendance for at least three meetings.
With no further business, members moved, seconded and voted to adjourn; Saltzman closed the meeting at 1:11 p.m.
