Commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation declaring October 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Crook County after a brief presentation by Joanna Gardner, regional services manager with Saving Grace. Gardner described Saving Grace’s services for people who have experienced domestic violence and asked the board to declare the observance to raise public awareness and support prevention and response efforts.
The proclamation text referenced national and local prevalence statistics and called on residents to promote accountability, effective prevention and consistent enforcement to protect survivors. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the proclamation; Gardner thanked the board for their support.
The proclamation is symbolic but intended to raise public awareness and encourage local organizations and residents to participate in prevention and survivor-support efforts throughout October.
