He said a separate bridge crew for youth with diagnosed disabilities completed 372 hours, earning about $5,700 (approximately $1,400 per participant).
Orr described the work as hands‑on conservation projects including fuels reduction, habitat restoration, trail work and facilities maintenance. He shared survey results: 87% of participating youth said they felt a stronger connection to public lands, 79% reported feeling more prepared to enter the workforce, and 96% had a positive program experience.
Orr thanked the county for prior support and asked commissioners to consider doubling next season’s grant from $5,000 to $10,000 to broaden project types and employer partnerships. Commissioners acknowledged funding constraints but expressed appreciation for the program.
Next steps: Commissioners said they would review the county budget and consider Orr’s request during upcoming budget planning.
