Summary
Landfill director Jackie Davis said Crook County is participating in a Circular Action Alliance pilot that places a recycling trailer at the landfill to accept materials not allowed in curbside bins, with the county receiving about $650/month for storage and partial labor reimbursement.
Jackie Davis, Crook County landfill director, told the board Dec. 3 that the county is participating in a state pilot program run by the Circular Action Alliance (CAA) and has placed a recycling trailer at the county landfill to accept items not allowed in curbside recycling.
Davis said the trailer accepts plastic bags and other stretch film, plastic lids and rigid packaging, 5‑gallon plastic buckets, aluminum foil and trays, and shredded paper. The pilot trailer is self‑stocking and monitored remotely; the county’s role is limited to occasional checking for contamination and swapping full totes.
Davis said the county will be reimbursed approximately $650 per month for storage space and one quarter of an employee’s wages for labor associated with the trailer. A camera inside the trailer will be monitored by the program operator to schedule pickups, minimizing staff effort.
The trailer is located at the landfill facility; Davis asked staff to direct public questions about the program to the landfill and to the program website for more details.
