Alicia Gudutti elected chair as Cromwell Board of Education reorganizes leadership
Summary
By unanimous show of hands the Cromwell Board of Education selected Alicia Gudutti as its new chair at the meeting; the board also approved its secretary and conducted routine business including several schedule and minutes approvals.
Alicia Gudutti was elected chair of the Cromwell Board of Education on a unanimous show-of-hands vote at the board's regular meeting, succeeding Selena Kelleher, who stepped down after a decade of service.
Catherine Russ opened the meeting as moderator under Cromwell policy 9120 and called for nominations. After a single nomination, Russ asked the board to indicate support by show of hands. "So that is unanimous," she said after counting votes and handed the gavel to Gudutti, who accepted and thanked the board.
The board then filled its secretary role. Miss Franklin nominated Katherine Russ to serve as secretary; the board closed nominations and approved the appointment by voice vote.
Superintendent Doctor Macri and other members offered a formal recognition of Selena Kelleher for her service, citing projects completed during her tenure. Macri read a letter from Kelleher and described accomplishments including the district's new middle school, curriculum improvements and what Macri called sustained financial stewardship.
The new leadership will preside over the 2026 budget cycle and several policy reviews scheduled for second reading. The board moved on after the reorganizational items to budget briefings and routine approvals.
