Curry County approves PEG-channel equipment upgrade, funds from PEG balance

The Curry County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal on Oct. 1 to upgrade audiovisual equipment to use the county’s PEG cable channels for education and government programming.
County staff explained the upgrade would allow distribution of content from the library, Extension services, colleges and county programs over public and education channels that have not been used in recent years because of outdated equipment. The approved proposal includes an initial startup cost of $6,335 and a monthly charge of $644 for 36 months; commissioners said the purchase will be paid from existing PEG funds.
Unidentified Speaker 2 moved to accept the proposal and Unidentified Speaker 1 seconded; the board voted by voice and the motion passed. Commissioners noted the channels could be used for civic education and local programming for classroom and community audiences.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved the consent agenda, which included the amendment to add a subrecipient agreement for Curry County Public Transportation Services under item 'g.' Commissioner Trost was absent from the session.
