The board also authorized an emergency procurement to replace a fingerprint machine at the jail that was reported destroyed by an inmate. The replacement cost was cited as $11,370. Commissioners discussed submitting the cost to insurance and possibly pursuing a civil judgment against the inmate to recover the loss; no recovery had been confirmed at the meeting.
Before adjourning to an executive session, the board announced it would meet under ORS 192.660(2)(h) to consult with counsel about legal rights and duties related to litigation likely to be filed. After returning to open session, commissioners voted to waive the discussed conflict regarding U.S. District Court case 1:24-cv-01137-CL and then adjourned.
