Crook County commissioners approve consent agenda, Medicaid IGA and personnel changes; direct counsel after executive session

The Crook County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 1 approved routine business items including the consent agenda and an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the Multnomah Education Service District to allow Medicaid administrative claiming.

Commissioners discussed the IGA's terms and noted a 10% administrative fee included in the contract. After considering staff's explanation that the IGA is the best available option to access administrative claiming, a motion to approve the agreement was seconded and carried.

County Manager announced the promotion of Jackie Davis to landfill director effective Oct. 1, praising her leadership in solid-waste operations. The manager also said the board will conduct a series of special meetings with departments over the coming months to review core services ahead of the budget.

The board approved a staff recommendation to participate in the chamber's Halloween "Candy Crawl," authorizing $350 from the community fund to purchase candy and supply stations in the courthouse lobby.

The board later met in executive session under ORS 192.660(2)(f) to review records exempt from public disclosure. After returning to open session, commissioners voted to direct county legal counsel to correspond with counterparties as discussed in the executive session. No open-session decisions about the content of that correspondence were made.

The meeting concluded after the board voted to adjourn.
