At its Nov. 3 meeting the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners recorded the following formal actions (all votes noted were unanimous unless otherwise stated):
- Approval of the meeting agenda (motion by Sheryl Jones). - Approval of the consent agenda as modified, including proclamations and routine items. - Appointment of multiple board members and trustees: Joseph Stevens and Lucina Yarbrough (Animal Services Board vacancies), Britney Lee, Jill Parker and Brian Taylor (city of Fayetteville resident slots), Jason Fick and Dr. Vicky Andrews (FTCC Board of Trustees nominees), and appointments to the Fireman's Relief Fund Board of Joseph McDaniel (Vander) and Mitchell Johnson (Pierce's Mill). Votes were taken by show of hands and recorded as unanimous. - Approval to have the county attorney's office serve as legal counsel for the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (motion by Commissioner Patel). - Approval of an employment contract for Kimberly Bain as a court coordinator, subject to legal sufficiency and pre-audit confirmation (motion by Vice Chair Sheryl Jones). - Approval of a memorandum of understanding with the City of Dunn to explore expanded water agreements in northern Cumberland County (motion by Vice Chair Sheryl Jones). - Authorization for the county manager to execute a three-month extension of the county’s proactive contract (motion by Commissioner Patel).
The board also moved into and returned from closed session to discuss personnel and attorney–client matters pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(A)(6) and (A)(3). The meeting adjourned following a reminder about a veterans missing-man table ceremony scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
