Development-services staff informed the City Planning Commission that City Council at its prior meeting voted on a first-reading ordinance to dissolve the Transportation Advisory Committee and make the committee a subcommittee of the planning commission.
Andrew Demas said the council action was at first reading and that the commission and staff will need to work out procedural details, including how the subcommittee will be filled and whether members will serve in that role in addition to other commission responsibilities. "We'll still have to work out the details of how that will work procedurally and how it will be amended in the municipal code," Demas said.
Staff said a future presentation will explain the process and timing for implementing the change. The commission did not take any formal action on the reorganization at this meeting; Demas described the council action as a first-reading ordinance and said municipal-code changes and filling of positions will be addressed in a later presentation to the commission.
Next steps: staff to provide a future presentation on the municipal-code amendments and appointment process; council final action and code amendments will determine the effective change in committee structure.
