Planning commission approves 2026 calendar, routine minutes and two final plats

Madam Chair Salazar Garza convened the City Planning Commission and the body approved routine items including the 2026 meeting calendar, minutes from Oct. 29, 2025, and two final plats on a unanimous voice vote.

Development-services staff read the public-comment rules, noting that "Comments are limited to 3 minutes," and opened general public comment; no members of the public addressed the commission. An unidentified commissioner moved to approve excused absences for two members and the commission approved the motion by voice vote.

Andrew Demas, development-services staff, read items on the consent agenda and recommended approval of two plats: "Nueces Gardens No. 1" and a final plat for "M and R Home Solutions LLC subdivision." Demas said staff and the technical review committee found both plats compliant with the Unified Development Code and the Texas Local Government Code. "Staff recommends approval," Demas said.

A commissioner asked whether a final plat for a cell-phone tower carries a separate notification; staff replied that notification is tied to zoning cases and that there is no separate plat-specific notice beyond state law. After a brief exchange the commission opened and closed the consent public hearing (no speakers) and approved the consent agenda on a voice vote.

The commission also approved the 2026 meeting calendar after staff requested approval and a commissioner confirmed February has 28 days in 2026. The meeting adjourned after a short discussion of future agenda timelines.
