Greene County approves insurance funding for new vans and a $1 million school transfer

Greene County commissioners approved two finance actions after presentations from county staff: a budget amendment to cover insurance costs for newly acquired transportation vans, and a school-board request to transfer $1,000,000 from its capital outlay fund to local current expense.
The county manager told the board the transportation department received four new vans this fiscal year and the budgeted insurance funds had already been spent on the existing fleet. He said the requested amendment would add funds to pay insurance on the new vehicles and would be reconciled when reimbursements are processed. "They had to insure the vans," the county manager explained during his presentation.
Separately, the county manager described a school-board request to transfer $1,000,000 to cover a shortfall in the local current expense fund. He described the transfer as a "one time ask" and said it is legally permitted under applicable statute; the board approved the transfer by voice vote.
Both measures were moved, seconded and approved during the meeting. County staff said they will record reimbursements and adjust budget entries as needed in subsequent accounting entries; no additional county funding beyond the approved amendment was reported.
