The Lavaca County Commissioners Court voted Oct. 27 to move forward with a countywide transition from traditional landlines to voice-over-IP telephone service and directed county staff to return a contract for execution.
The presiding officer moved to proceed with the vendor identified in the discussion as Vested Network LLC; Precinct 1 seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. The court directed staff to finalize the scope of work and bring a formal contract back to the court for signature.
County IT Director Michael Witt was identified to the court as participating in the procurement discussion; court members said the service would cover county offices, buildings and satellite locations that now have internet access. The presiding officer noted the courthouse elevator may continue to require a traditional landline for elevator phone requirements until equipment changes are made.
The court record also shows a discrepancy in the vendor name: during discussion the presiding officer said the court should proceed with Vested Network LLC, while the draft contract on file carried the name Best in Networks LLC. The court did not resolve that paperwork discrepancy during the meeting and instructed staff to return the completed contract to the court once reconciled.
The court’s action was procedural: it authorized moving forward with the VOIP implementation and the vendor selection as discussed, and required staff to present the final contract for formal approval and signature at a future meeting.
