Summary
Superintendent Doctor Campbell highlighted fall athletics and theater, announced a TechConnect event for senior citizens on Dec. 3, and introduced Dane Buttafuoco as the district’s new director of community relations, who started Nov. 10.
Superintendent Doctor Campbell used the Nov. 10 board meeting to highlight recent student achievements and community programming and to introduce a new hire in district communications.
Campbell congratulated fall athletes — noting cross country, soccer, volleyball and field hockey results — and praised the Emmaus High School production of The Diary of Anne Frank. She also reminded the community of upcoming events including Lehigh Career and Technical Institute’s open house on Nov. 20 and the district’s Thanksgiving luncheons for senior citizens, bus drivers and crossing guards.
Campbell announced a TechConnect event on Dec. 3 in which Emmaus High School students will help East Penn senior citizens learn to use personal devices: "Our students will be available to help our senior citizens learn some new skills on their personal technology," she said. The event will be publicized on the high school website and via flyers at the Thanksgiving luncheons.
Campbell also introduced Dane Buttafuoco as the district’s new director of community relations, noting she started with the district that day and brings experience in broadcast journalism, including work at WFMZ in Allentown. "We're very fortunate that Dane has chosen East Penn as her new professional home," Campbell said.
No policy or budget decisions were linked to the hire during the meeting; the introduction was presented as an informational announcement and recognition.
