Muskego City’s Finance Committee on Nov. 11 voted to recommend a 10-year payment plan for Muskegon Wash LLC d/b/a Warrior Wash and forward the resolution to the full city council.
The committee’s discussion centered on terms negotiated by staff. Speaker 2 (committee member) said the business asked for no interest in the first year and 5% interest for years two through ten; Speaker 2 said, "Considering how this all came about, to me, that's fair." Speaker 5 added, "I think that's the key thing is that we get it all. We're getting some interest on it." The committee approved a motion to move the resolution up to council for final action.
Speaker 2 said some charges predated the current owner and that the amounts remained attached to the property after foreclosure, noting the administration had previously discussed a 10-year term at 6% as an option. The proposed plan, as presented, would spread payments over 10 years with the interest schedule described during the meeting.
The committee did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript; votes were taken by voice and the chair announced the motion passed. The council will receive the committee’s recommendation at a future meeting for final approval and enactment.
