High school punch list progressing; Frontier bus loop complete, soil borings planned for middle school site

District operations staff updated the board on construction and site work across the district, including the high school, Legacy and the new middle school site.
"We finished the fifth science lab, and they're using that lab now," Operations (Speaker 2) told the board, detailing completed work on lighting, sound barriers and roofing. He said electricians are completing the longest list of punch‑list items and that a final inspection is expected soon once those corrections are made.
Other items in the operations briefing included completion of the Frontier bus drop loop (now in use) and upgraded exterior lighting to support loading areas. Operations also reported that a minor plat for the middle school property was approved by the city of Sioux Falls and is circulating for signatures; "soil boring work will be going to be at this month," he said, noting soil borings are a critical step before closing on the property.
Operations said the district is pursuing a straight rebate related to ice storage systems and is working on final site landscaping later in the month. The board received the update and posed several clarifying questions about timelines and outstanding inspections.
