New economic development director introduced to committee

Jack Benjamin introduced himself to the committee on Nov. 5 as the new economic development director. Benjamin said he most recently worked in New Britain for roughly four and a half years overseeing planning and development and described professional experience in municipal planning, grant writing and managing development services programs.
Benjamin said he has ‘‘hit the ground running’’ and looks forward to working with council members and staff on local housing and development priorities. Committee members welcomed him and agreed to schedule future presentations to discuss housing initiatives and homeownership programs.
What this does not mean: The meeting included an introduction and informal remarks; no formal personnel action or vote occurred during this session.
Next step: Staff promised to schedule follow-up briefings on housing programs and License & Inspection presentations in December.
