Tualatin students present Red Ribbon Week; council adopts proclamation

Students from the LEAP Youth Alliance described plans to mark Red Ribbon Week and asked the Tualatin City Council for community participation. "My name is Cosima Slider. The students said fundraisers, including a greenery sale and a BottleDrop matching campaign, will support prevention activities and a spring prevention summit. Ian, introduced as the club secretary, invited interested community members to join planning and judging for events.
After the presentation, Council adopted a city proclamation declaring October 2025 as Red Ribbon Week. The proclamation cites partnerships with local schools, Tualatin Together, regional prevention organizations and the Oregon National Guard counterdrug programs as part of the city’s prevention strategy.
Council President Pratt introduced and the council adopted the proclamation during the meeting. The city and LEAP encouraged residents to participate in education and prevention activities scheduled for the month.
