Shawnee County treasurer: property tax bills to mail next week; online payments available, due Dec. 22

Shawnee County Treasurer Susan Duffy told the Board of County Commissioners on Nov. 13 that the county’s property tax bills will be mailed the following Monday and Tuesday and that taxpayers may begin paying online immediately.
Duffy directed residents to pay through the Kansas online payment portal at ican.ks.gov or through the Shawnee County Treasurer’s website and recommended avoiding third-party payment vendors that charge extra fees. She said residents may also use the county drop box or send payments by mail.
Duffy said bills will be mailed beginning next Monday and Tuesday and reminded the board that taxes are due Monday, Dec. 22, because Dec. 20 falls on a Saturday this year. She thanked the County Clerk’s Office for its help finalizing numbers for mailing.
Duffy added that the treasurer’s office continues to receive in-person delinquent payments and cited a recent large $2,200,000 check as an example of significant late payments being processed.
No action was required of the commission on the announcement; the treasurer offered to answer questions and accept payments through the options described.
