Saline County amends Planning Commission bylaws to follow state simple-majority rules

Saline County — The Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved amendments to the Planning Commission bylaws to simplify voting rules and clarify amendment procedures.
Tim Hamilton, planning and zoning administrator, told commissioners the bylaws had not been substantially updated since 2014 and that staff and the planning commission agreed to remove a confusing table describing voting. The revised text will reference state provisions and state statute language so that routine votes of the planning commission are governed by a simple majority when a quorum is present. Hamilton also said the commission’s hearing date is being set as the fourth Tuesday of each month and that bylaws now specify that any bylaw amendments require a two-thirds vote of members present and must be forwarded to the county commission for consideration.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval of RFA 2025-139 as presented and carried the motion by voice vote.
