Saline County awards $638,414.22 contract to RMA Engineering for six reinforced-concrete box sites

Saline County — The Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 7 to award the contract for the 2025 reinforced-concrete box (RCB) construction project to RMA Engineering for $638,414.22.
Justin Mader, Road and Bridge county engineer, told commissioners his office opened three bids on July 29 and recommended RMA Engineering as the low bidder. The project covers six scattered county sites that replace existing drainage structures with limited grading and roadwork. Mader said specifications assign 55 working days per site; days lost to weather are excluded, and the contract includes $200 per day in liquidated damages after the working-day allowance is exceeded.
Funds for the work will come from the county’s special bridge-construction account (account 125), which Mader said has a balance of about $1,000,751. Board members moved and seconded RFA 2025-138 as presented and approved the award by voice vote.
Why this matters: The work is routine county infrastructure maintenance intended to preserve drainage and road function at six locations, and the contract award commits county bridge funds to construction in 2025.
