Kenner council approves consent agenda and multiple contracts and purchases, including $2.68M transfer-station bid

At the Oct. 2 meeting the Kenner City Council unanimously approved the consent agenda, funding and contracts including $2.68 million for Chateau Transfer Station improvements and equipment and service contracts across departments.
The Kenner City Council on Oct. 2, 2025 approved a series of ordinances, resolutions and contracts by unanimous votes, authorizing purchases and contract awards across police, parks and wastewater departments.
Key approvals included: - Summary ordinance 13,942: purchase of handheld radar and LIDAR equipment for the Kennard Police Department from state contract #4400030934, not to exceed $50,000. Council discussed device counts and calibration needs; vote 7–0. - Summary ordinance 13,943: purchase of lawn equipment from state contract #4400033192 for Parks & Recreation, not to exceed $100,000; vote 7–0. - Summary ordinance 13,944: award to Command Construction Industries LLC for Chateau Transfer Station improvements (bid 25-6892) in the amount of $2,680,000; departmental representative described foundation work, installation of two bar screens and pipe repairs; vote 7–0. - Summary ordinance 13,945: agreement with DXP Enterprises Inc. (dba Delta Process Equipment) for Gorman-Rupp pumps and accessories on an as-needed basis, not to exceed $200,000; vote 7–0. - Summary ordinances 13,946 and 13,947: Gulf South Engineering and Testing Inc. to provide testing services (each not to exceed $10,000) for the '20 Replacement Project' and the Chateau transfer station improvements, respectively; votes 7–0. - Additional procurement approvals: reflective sheeting from Vulcan Inc. (ord. 13,948, not to exceed $30,000 annually); electrical supplies from New Light Electrical Wholesalers (ord. 13,949, not to exceed $12,982.87); outdoor wall pads for Musperdaleno Stadium (ord. 13,950, not to exceed $9,877); and acceptance of completion for Beacon Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration (Exhibition Hall rooftop units) under the previously adopted repair ordinance (vote 7–0).
The clerk also read several administrative resolutions: rescheduling of 2026 meeting dates, temporary placement of event signs for LA Walks for Parkinson, and an agenda-deadline suspension; each passed unanimously. The council opened and closed a public hearing on summary ordinance 13,951 (lead-hazard grant budget amendment) and approved it 7–0.
No ordinances for sale/transfer, opening of bids or reclassification of zoning were presented at final passage. The meeting concluded with public comment and an adjournment.
