Hempstead board continues afternoon hearing and later approves Greater Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District assessment roll

The Town Board opened the public hearing on the proposed assessment roll for the Greater Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1, 2026. During the 2:30 PM portion of the hearing no one present at town hall signed up to speak, so the board voted to continue the hearing to 7:00 PM the same day to allow additional public comment.

At the evening reconvening the board moved to approve the assessment roll for the Greater Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District and recorded ayes from members present on the motion.

Procedural notes: The clerk announced the hearing, board members confirmed the motion to continue in the afternoon, and later a motion to approve was made and seconded at the reconvened hearing. There were no substantive public comments recorded during the 2:30 PM afternoon portion; the item was then approved as part of the evening session.
