The Oak Grove R-VI board approved two capital procurements and received construction updates.
Playground turf: The district presented a procurement bid (Midwest, with Craig Chunk referenced) for demolition, drainage, concrete footings, turf replacement and an added sidewalk at the high-school front entrance. The total bid was $77,750 and the presenter said the work will be funded from capital project funds; the board moved, seconded and approved the bid.
Weight-room equipment: Athletic staff presented a proposed SoreneX weight-system and integrated training technology (including Rack Coach) to outfit the new weight room. The district said $250,000 in bond funds had been set aside for equipment and the vendor bid presented was $235,988.16. Staff described safety features, rack layout, TV integration and expandability. The board motioned, seconded and approved the weight-room equipment purchase.
Construction update: Staff reported locker rooms are progressing (floors sealed, partitions to be installed), the throwing area for track has been graded and concrete poured for curbs, and playground equipment delivery delays produced staggered partial deliveries with installation expected within days.
All approvals were described as within previously-budgeted capital or bond funds; board members voiced support and no roll-call tallies were transcribed in the meeting minutes.
