Board hears updates on after-school clubs, facility requests and semiannual transportation report

Administrators briefed the board on extracurricular offerings, facility-use requests and the transportation semiannual report.
The extracurricular presentation listed after-school offerings that originated with ESSER funding and are ongoing under district management, including clubs such as Disc Golf, Deck Building, Pokémon Club, Walking Club, Film Media, Spanish and stories-in-STEM activities; presenters noted not all requested clubs may run immediately.
Facility-use requests — including a middle-school spring musical, orchestra events and youth basketball and lacrosse practices — were described and will be presented for approval at the Oct. 20 voting meeting. Several high-school overnight trips for band, orchestra, FFA and TSA conferences (including travel to Tampa and Atlanta) were also previewed for board action next week.
The transportation semiannual report highlighted nearly 5,000 pupils transported to district buildings and other locations, a vehicle fleet listing (38 buses, six spare buses, nine micro-buses and 19 vans), recent evacuation drills and upcoming National Bus Safety Week. A list of drivers to be approved will also appear on the next voting agenda.
No votes were taken during the work session; facility-use and driver approvals are scheduled for the Oct. 20 voting meeting.
