Kootenai County schedules interviews and reappointments for advisory boards, flags planning & zoning as priority

Sarah Masters reported that the county received more applicants for several advisory boards, including airport, natural resources, planning and zoning, aquifer protection and others. Commissioners reviewed slots and constraints, such as limits on how many appointees may reside inside cities for certain boards.
On boards with uncontested openings (for example, some airport and parks positions), commissioners indicated they were comfortable reappointing incumbents. For boards with multiple applicants or specialized criteria (planning and zoning; aquifer protection), commissioners agreed to interview candidates. The board discussed interviewing up to four planning and zoning applicants together and noted the need to ensure that required county residency and representation rules are met for each board.
