KSDE math team unveils standards-alignment toolkit and teacher resources

The KSDE math team described a coordinated effort to strengthen instruction through a coherent set of resources, professional learning and a statewide network of Teacher Leader Consultants and field educators. Presenter Jennifer Hamlett said the resources include standards-alignment toolkits, a teacher guidance document, interim assessment blueprints, mini-tests and an educator portal where teachers can access interim reports and resources.
Hamlett said the team has served more than 2,000 educators and worked with roughly 143 of Kansas' 280-plus districts over the past two years. The presentation emphasized four fundamentals—standards alignment, balanced assessment, quality instruction and the emerging work to connect structured literacy to math vocabulary.
Board members asked for follow-up and suggested a longer future presentation to allow more questions. KSDE offered email contacts and follow-up meetings to dive deeper into implementation and classroom supports.
