BSRB advisory committee hears plan to move licensing to Acela, promote CE Broker

The licensed psychology advisory committee of the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board heard an operations update Oct. 14 that centered on a multiyear effort to modernize the agency’s licensing systems.
David Fye, the BSRB’s executive director, said the board is about eight months into a two-year transition to the Acela licensing platform. The move is intended to allow applicants to apply for licensure electronically, guide applicants through profession-specific question flows and integrate payment processing so clerical staff spend less time assembling files. “We’re about 8 months into a 2 year process,” Fye said.
Fye also encouraged licensees to consider signing up for CE Broker ahead of license renewals in June 2026. He described the tool as optional but useful for avoiding last-minute uploads of continuing-education documentation.
Why it matters: The changes could shorten processing times for initial licensure and centralize information the board uses to confirm qualifications. That could affect applicants across seven professions overseen by the BSRB and change how staff handle licensing workflows.
What’s next: Fye said the agency expects roughly another year to 18 months of testing before a full launch. Committee members did not vote on the migration plan but received the briefing and will review more detailed drafts as they become available.
