Princeton swears in officials; Michael Holmes named mayor pro tem

Johnson recited the oath of office, saying, “I, Stacy Gardner Johnson, do solemnly and sincerely swear that I will support the constitution of The United States… and that I will endeavor to support, maintain, and defend the constitution of said state,” then affirmed “I do.”
The board also administered oaths to Michael Holmes, Roderick Keith Robinson and Ashley Boyette, each affirming they will "well and truly execute the duties" of town commissioner. After the swearing-in, the board considered appointments for the coming year and approved a motion naming Michael Holmes mayor pro tem; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously, 4-0.
Why it matters: Organizational meetings set leadership and committee assignments for the year ahead. The mayor and commissioners take formal oaths that create the legal authority for official actions; naming a mayor pro tem designates who will preside if the mayor is absent.
