Board introduced model procurement policy 7.5; staff to return for final approval in December
Summary
Staff introduced model policy 7.5 (purchases and procurement) noting the state bid threshold rose to $26,500 and the model language ties the district threshold to the state threshold; board will consider final approval and accompanying forms at the December meeting.
District staff presented an informational introduction of model policy 7.5 (purchases and procurement) and associated forms during the Nov. 11 meeting. The presenter explained that the state’s bid threshold increased from $25,000 to $26,500 and that the model policy includes language tying the district threshold to the state threshold so the district will not need to return to the board each time the state changes its limit.
Staff said the policy language in the packet is new because it is the model policy wording, but that the underlying processes remain consistent with prior district practice. The presentation included sample solicitation forms recommended with the model policy.
The presenter said the goal is to ask the board for final approval of policy 7.5 and the related forms at the December meeting and invited board feedback over the next month. No vote was taken on the policy at the Nov. 11 meeting.
