Perryton ISD creates public portal and advances emergency operations materials

Speaker 7 said the district submitted the final draft of its emergency operations plan to the Texas Education Agency and expects to hear back soon. The communications lead also reported a plan to phase out older AEDs and replace three units this year at high-priority locations including the junior-high gym, the athletic trainer—s office and the baseball field.
The district also said it had implemented a public portal on the district website where stakeholders can submit questions and concerns. "I created a public portal where stakeholders can submit questions, concerns, phrases, via our website," the communications representative said. The portal entries will be routed to Board President (Speaker 1) and Board Member Brown (as stated on the record), who will then discuss submissions as appropriate. The presenter said the portal is a statutory requirement stemming from recent legislative changes and encouraged community use.
Board members noted the need to manage email volume and confirmed routing preferences so that submissions reach the intended trustees and staff. The district said it would post guidance on the website on how to use the portal for both complaints and commendations.
