"We've been running somewhere between 150 to 225 calls for service per 24 hours," a sheriff's office representative said as part of the staffing justification. After discussion about applicant pools, training time and budget timing, a commissioner moved to fill the single vacant dispatcher position; the board approved the motion.
On infrastructure, Public Works Director Brian Edwards presented a contractor request from Roadhouse Construction for a 41-day extension to the Powell Library substantial completion date because owner-initiated changes and subcontractor/material delays have pushed the schedule. Edwards said the requested extension would set substantial completion to Jan. 8, 2026 and final completion to Feb. 8, 2026; he noted the contractor is not asking for additional funds and called it a no-cost change order. "They're requesting a 41 day extension to the substantial completion date to 01/08/2026," Edwards said. The board voted to approve the change order with no cost change and authorized the chair to sign.
