The Ojai Arts Commission opened its annual grant‑presentation meeting Oct. 16 at Ojai City Hall, where roughly two dozen arts organizations outlined projects seeking awards from a $100,000 city grant pool.
Chair Smitty West told applicants the commission had pushed the city to expand funding this year and introduced an ad hoc review committee that will vet applications and return recommendations to the full commission. "This is our favorite meeting of the year," West said, thanking applicants for their work and noting that final awards will go to the City Council in December.
