Commission approves $27,500 KDOT grant-writing agreement to reimburse consultant costs

At the Nov. 18 meeting commissioners approved entering into an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation to fund grant-writing services for a bridge application. Staff said the award reimburses 100% of actual costs to write the grant, not to exceed $27,500, and that the agreement contains standard KDOT language.
The county's representative said the contract had been routed to the county counselor for review; commissioners moved to approve signature authority and to enter into the agreement contingent on the county counselor—learing the contract. The motion passed by voice vote.
Staff and commissioners discussed that the project is multi-jurisdictional and that other counties are participating; they noted the grant-writing reimbursement removes an operating-cost burden for the participating counties.
