The superintendent also presented first six‑week assessment results aligned to the district’s newly adopted Bluebonnet curriculum. She cautioned trustees that Bluebonnet module assessments contain far fewer items than the full STAAR tests and pointed to anomalies in some grade‑level results that may reflect the shorter module question sets rather than true performance differences. For example, third‑grade reading modules in Bluebonnet had 20 questions compared with 41 on STAAR; other modules had as few as 11–15 questions. The superintendent said staff will analyze whether the short assessments are producing false positives and will provide cohort‑by‑cohort breakdowns showing how close students are to crossing from 'approaches' to 'meets.'
Trustees asked for more granular data on the cohorts that underperformed and for the district to share the principals’ interventions. The superintendent said principals have met with teachers and staff will email trustees a more detailed breakdown.
What’s next: the district will provide a breakdown of cohort results and continue campus‑level monitoring and intervention work; no board action was taken on the assessment report.
