The Octorara Area School District Board on Oct. 20 approved several personnel and human-resources actions, including appointments, supplemental stipends, updated salaries, and an amended retirement agreement.
Personnel approvals included:
- Heather Daniels as assistant principal at Octorara Area High School, salary $115,000 (prorated) pending completion of employee documents. - Dana Grow as communications director, salary $95,000 (prorated) pending completion of employee documents. - An interim assistant principal assignment through a scope of work with the Chester County Intermediate Unit effective Nov. 4, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2026. - Dawn McHale as truant officer for the Primary Learning Center and the Intermediate School. - Supplemental achievement team leader stipends at the Primary Learning Center for 2025–26 (4 points each at $620 per point, total $2,480) to named staff members. - Student auditorium worker positions at $12.50 per hour for the 2025–26 school year. - Updated custodial and maintenance 12-month employee handbook with revised salary and benefit language and several individual salary adjustments effective Jan. 1, 2026.
The board also considered an extended leave and retirement agreement for the Primary Learning Center principal effective Aug. 10, 2026. A board member moved to amend the retirement language to include "with regret"; the board approved the amendment and then approved the amended retirement agreement. The transcript contained inconsistent spellings of the principal's last name in discussion; the agreement was approved as amended and the board said a formal celebration of retirees typically occurs later in the year.
All personnel actions were approved by voice vote; roll-call tallies were not recorded in the meeting transcript. Administration said start dates are pending receipt of required employment documents and that some actions (interim assignment and retirement timeline) have specified effective dates in the motions.
