Board approves airport GMP, landfill contract, JoED funding, tax-listing extension and other items

Onslow County commissioners approved an amended airport project ordinance and accepted a Balfour Beatty GMP for $30,919,412, awarded a landfill closure contract to Lawing and Sons, approved a four-year $400,000-per-year JoED funding agreement, adopted the 2026 schedule of values and extended the 2026 personal-property listing period to March 16, 2026 (Resolution 25-013).
The Onslow County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 17 approved several administrative measures and contracts affecting county infrastructure and operations.
Airport runway extension and GMP: Airport Director Mitch Sprunger presented an amended project ordinance for the OAJ runway-extension program to incorporate construction, utility relocations and environmental approvals. The board approved the amendment and accepted a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) from construction manager Balfour Beatty in the amount of $30,919,412 for the runway extension and the relocation of NC 111.
